BEHIND THE SCENES -

This remarkable, natural soap bar is the result of considerable testing with many fine and not-so-fine products. Initially, we were searching for a healthier alternative to the usual face and body bars that would serve the needs of an entire family, including babies. Separately, we were also looking for a product that would significantly improve the health and comfort of shaving - at a very affordable price. 

After lots of evaluating, reading and talking with experts, we focused on several products containing butter from the African Shea Nut. Initially, we found most of these products did not contain much Shea Butter, or the Shea Butter source was untraceable, or the product contained various undesirable fillers and ingredients, or the product did not perform as expected.  Then, we discovered the product that we wanted to offer our customers. Blending the ingredients below with Shea Butter from their carefully controlled source in Ghana,  the people at Vermont Soap Organics produced (by far) the most reliable and satisfying  face and body bar we had ever tested.    This Shea Butter soap also produced the smooth,  close, non-irritating shave we wanted for men and women of every skin type - making it an ideal shaving soap. Finally,  we found this Shea Butter bar was more resistant to waste and easier to use than products packed into bottles, tubes & aerosol cans.

Our Shea Butter Bar is hypoallergenic, nontoxic, biodegradable, and safe.  No animal products, by products or animal testing. No artificial preservatives, fragrances, colors, or detergents.

"Our definition of chemical/synthetic free, and the definition we are attempting to imply in the mind of the consumer, is that our products are safe and nontoxic, readily biodegradable, and made as close to original form as possible; that it is free of artificial colors (no FD&C or Lake Colors are used), artificial fragrances (essential oils used instead) or preservatives (we use a high quality rosemary extract - never any EDTA, triclosan, benzoin, parabens, etc.), detergents, alcohol's, propylene glycol, etc. We recognize that in the absence of a generally recognized definition of synthetic in personal care, our claim is essentially puffery."
