What's the story behind BearWobble's name?  See article toward bottom of page.

Five Star Ratings. Nonstop since 2003.

In 2003, BearWobble opened for business with a small store on eBay. Later, we opened
another small store on Amazon and our larger free standing store here at BearWobble.Com. Today, we are just as fanatical about exceptional value, good service and a friendly attitude as we were in 2003.  We are deeply thankful to our customers for honoring these efforts with the positive feedback and ratings below.

RATING GAMES: You may have noticed that searches with Google Shopping indicate very few reviews for BearWobble. We just recently implemented Google Checkout as an option for our customers. Use of Google Checkout, so far, has been limited - due in part to the popularity of our standard checkout process, BearWobble Express.  As more customers utilize Google Checkout, we expect that the number of reviews
for BearWobble shown to Google Shoppers will increase

You may have learned from recent press coverage that much of the feedback shown for online stores is, frankly, contrived. It is true that many stores email their customers asking for positive feedback, while some hire PR firms to submit reviews, and others even report positive feedback on any transaction that is completed without a customer complaint. Yuk!

Although we love getting nice feedback, we do not engage in any of these practices. With no prodding from us, our Amazon and eBay stores are ranked at the very top (5 stars) for customer satisfaction, and our customer reviews on BearWobble.Com rate a perfect 5 stars. In the real world, a relatively small percent of all POSITIVE online transactions result in customer feedback.  An even smaller percent of all online buyers choose to participate in PRODUCT reviews when such products meet or exceed expectations.
Our customers have taken the time to submit hundreds (not thousands) of reviews and feedback - all 100% voluntary and genuine. What they have to say should provide some insight about our approach to customer service.

If you have never reviewed our products or service, please do.  It's easy, very helpful to all, and no registration or purchase is required (see below).  If you don't like to do reviews or offer feedback, that is perfectly OK. The best compliment is always your repeat business or telling a friend about BearWobble.Com.

HINT: A very cool 'Email a Friend' tool is available from each of our product descriptions. If a Facebook user, you may share or like many of our products  or pages.

The story behind behind our name.

New River Gorge (near Brooklyn, West Virginia)                                    From right:  Annie Foard, Rev. William Foard (1963)

The year was 1950, give or take a couple. The setting was a gritty, isolated coal camp in Fayette County, West Virgina known as Brooklyn.  Until the mid 50s, virtually every structure in Brooklyn was owned by Scotia Coal.  Most houses were jammed into rows around a steep bowl, punctuated with narrow hollows deeply carved over the ages by numerous small brooks or 'runs'.  The bottom of this bowl was flat enough to accommodate a few more houses, a small Presbyterian chapel,  and a marshy field populated with cattails, frogs  & salamanders - plus a generous supply of mud for youthful play. In spite of its material deficits, Brooklyn seemed blessed with a sense of peace and harmony uncommon to coal camps of that era.

Each July, three young boys would invade Brooklyn for a week of adventure with their grandparents.   Ground zero was a small brook that meandered down by the chapel and into the marsh.  One lazy afternoon while playing in the brook, the youngest of the three claimed to have spied a bear cub wobbling along upstream, snorting and splashing its retreat through the shallow water.  In spite of clear and detailed descriptions, the older boys never acknowledged this bear, nor was the bear's presence ever verified by paw prints, scat or other physical evidence. Yet, from that time forth, the brook that still runs along the little chapel in Brooklyn West Virginia would be forever known as Bearwobble - if only by a small, select group of adventurers and story tellers.

Epilogue:

Today, you'll find the remains of Brooklyn near Mount Hope and Oak Hill, WV just over the hill from  New River Gorge and about 4 miles north of the 10,600 acre Bechtel Family Scout Reserve - the new permanent home of the National Boy Scout Jamboree.

The grandparents and chapel in Brooklyn where they worked brought much needed peace and comfort to the valley and other West Virginia coal camps during the turbulent 40s and 50s. Today,
the company store and most of Brooklyn's hillside houses are long gone. Yet, the magic of the brook and the bear lives on. For a few, Bearwobble will always be a small mountain stream with a bear cub wobbling through its shallow waters on a lazy summer day. For ANYONE seeking a friendly and peaceful place, Bearwobble is whatever, whenever and wherever they may wish it to be.

The bond between BearWobble.Com and this story
of the the brook and the bear remains strong   Our offices are in a small historic building in Martinsburg, WV - gateway to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.  Washington, DC is about 2 hours to the east; Brooklyn WV is about 5 hours to the southwest. Revenues from BearWobble.Com enable the Appalachian Institute to carry out a variety of economic and cultural development projects in the region.
