Refund amount = purchase price X percent of 3 year period remaining after item is returned.
SPECIAL NOTES:
1. This charger is not intended for use outside or with any type of battery other than NiMH rechargeable batteries.
2. As with many smart chargers, user should allow a few minutes for unit to fully 'read' the batteries in order for status to be displayed accurately on screen.
3. Multiple purchases of this item in the same order may save you extra money on shipping. RECHARGING FAQs:
1. How fast is too fast?
NiMH batteries are the easiest of all rechargeables to maintain. Excessive recharge current, especially when crudely applied, can generate excessive internal battery heat - which reduces battery performance and longevity. Intelligent management of recharge speed is one way the Vanson V-9688 optimizes longevity and overall performance of NIMH batteries.
2. What are some speed limits for safe recharging?
When 'fast recharging' your high quality, high efficiency NiMH batteries, internal heat generation is well within safe limits when the maximum recharge current does not exceed 1400 mA (for AA, C and D), 700 mA for AAA, and 40 mA for the '9v' size. With worn, abused or inferior quality NiMH batteries, you should expect lower thresholds.
3. Is there a formula for estimating a fast/safe charge time for NiMH batteries?
This information is not required to properly operate a Vanson V-9688 charger, or other charger with reliable mamagement features. Formula below provides a general estimate based on recharging fully discharged, high quality NiMH batteries at room temperature and accounts for power conversion inefficiencies and (for safety reasons) that some charging is not performed at charger's maximum charging rate. Generally, batteries that are not fully discharged or have a lower storage capacity will recharge in less time than those that are fully discharged or have a higher storage capacity.
Recharge time in hours = (Total Battery Capacities in mAh/maximum recharge current in mA) x 125%. Vanson V-9688/typical recharge time for high capacity cells: FULL discharge to FULL recharge.
VARIABLES: Time for single batteries is about half of that shown above. Time for four batteries of same size/capacity is about twice that shown above. Time for standard or low capacity cells is less than shown above. Time from partial discharge to full discharge is less than from full discharge.
4. Fast charging with fan equipped chargers: Some chargers may be equipped with a fan to protect the charger and, to some extent, to protect non-defective batteries from defective ones. However, fans on chargers (especially those marketed as 'fast chargers' ) may present special dangers. A fan has little effect on internal battery heat and could actually harm the battery by reducing the effect of any built-in temperature protection and/or by creating a substantial temperature differential between the core and the outer portion of the battery. In some chargers, the fan also reduces the overall charging output of the charger.
